THE LIONS CLUB OF SPRINGFIELD is a service club, with the goal of assisting the community and the less fortunate, primarily the hearing and sight impaired. Our motto is “We Serve”. The Club began with 36 charter members in 1948 and now has 72 members.

The LIONS CLUB OF SPRINGFIELD was chartered in 1948 by Lions Clubs International which is headquartered in Oak Brook, IL and has assisted the blind and deaf since 1917. Lions International is the largest service club in the world, having 1.4 million members in almost every country in the world.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Lions Club of Springfield and the Lions Club of Springfield Charitable Foundation Inc., are service organizations made up of members whose goals are centered on assisting the youth and adults of our community, especially the hearing and visually impaired, and providing assistance for other humanitarian needs.  We encourage service-minded people to serve their community through our organization by taking an active interest in the civic, cultural, and social welfare of our community.  It is our desire to grow personally and professionally during our service.

VISION STATEMENT
The LIons Club of Springfield strives to be the service club of choice for Springfield and the surrounding communities.  We are a community of people who live and breathe, “We Serve”.

OUR SERVICE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

  1. Sponsor the Springfield Lions Adult School
  2. Collect used eye glasses for reuse in third world countries
  3. Support and sponsor individuals to Lions Beacon Lodge – a summer camp for the visually impaired
  4. Support the Lions Leader Dog Program
  5. Provide eye examinations and eyeglasses for the needy in Springfield and surrounding communities
  6. Scholarships for outstanding Springfield HS and O’Hara HS students
  7. Supports various eye and hearing research projects.
  8. Donate to various Springfield organizations
